Samsung Hints Around Eye- Scanning Technology in Upcoming S5

There’s talk that Samsung’s latest Smartphone may be equipped with eye-scanning technology.
This is the latest from the company’s executive vice-president, Lee Young Hee, who toldBloomberg the Samsung S5 is set to release by April and may have the new technology integrated.
Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show Monday regarding the phone, and said he couldn’t confirm or deny if the iris-scanning technology would officially be released with the S5 in April. He simply stated Samsung is “studying the possibility but can’t really say whether we will have it or not on the S5.”
Hee did say, however, that consumers are “fanatical” about the potential for their phones to be able to scan their eye to perform functions such as unlocking the device.
As well, Samsung has taken another look at its Galaxy Gear Smartwatch and will release a new and improved version this year.
“We’ve been announcing our first flagship model in the first half of each year, around March and April, and we are still targeting for release around that time,” Lee said. “When we release our S5 device, you can also expect a Gear successor with more advanced functions, and the bulky design will also be improved.”
Some reports have suggested Samsung is looking for new ways to compete with Apple and its fingerprint technology recently unveiled with the new iPhone 5C and 5S. Rumour also has it that Samsung will release another wearable this year, possibly in the form of glasses.
“Samsung, which sells one of every three smartphones globally, is adding new features and models to fend off Apple in the high-end market and Chinese makers luring budget customers with handsets for $100,”" says Bloomberg.
